IN THE WORLD BUT NOT OF THE WORLD.
Chapter 19: Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Fielding Smith, (2013), 240–51* What does it mean to be “in the world, bot not of the world?”
From Joseph Fielding Smith: “If we are living the religion which the Lord has revealed and which we have received, we do not belong to the world. We should have no part in all its foolishness."
* In what ways do you feel successful at this? In what ways do you feel you could do better?
JFS: “The only part we have is keeping the commandments of God. That is all, being true to every coenenat and every obligation that we have entered into and taken upon ourselves."
* What blessings come to us as we strive to rise about the evil that sometimes surrounds us?
JFS: “Life was never intended to be easy, but the Lord has promised that he will cause all trials and difficulties to result in our good. He will give us strength and ability to overcome the world and to stand firm in the faith despite all opposition. It is a promise that we shall have peace in our hearts despite the tumults and troubles of the world.”
