If you've been in Short Hills Ward very long, you will know there are some deep seated traditions. One such tradition is our Memorial Day BBQ. This year we congregated at the Soldier's Memorial Field, which was not only an appropriately named place for a Memorial Day celebration, but also provided some much needed shade.
After eating all the baked goods from the bake sale, the kids mostly enjoyed getting each other and some of the adults wet.
Like always there were good friends, and good food
hot dogs, potato salad, and watermelon were on the menu, as they should be on a day like today
In fact, some say Memorial Day is the kick off to Summer...
The highlight of the occasion was the nicely done flag ceremony, put on by our very own Cub Scouts.
It was an extremely fitting event on a day like today, when we honor those who have given their lives to protect our precious freedoms. Thanks to all those who made it possible. Sarah R. the Cub scouts and the primary.
We sang an emotion filled Star Spangled Banner
Without those brave soldiers whose lives have been lost, we just may be without the whole "worship how or what they may". And to us that's a pretty big deal.
What a beautiful day
